Hello (can you hear the echo? - hello, hello, hello,)
I feel like I am entering an empty cave, as I attempt to breath some new life into this little place on the web. Be careful, if you are kind enough to stay and read, you may find some cobwebs, but I'll try and get them cleared out ASAP! ;)
Hard to believe, but it has been almost 2 years since I have wrote anything on here! What happened, you may ask? Well, the short answer is - life happened! Following my race at IMFL (detailed below), I had planned to hit the pause button on triathlon, as we had recently brought our 2nd child into the world just months before that race. Well, the pause became a grinding halt, when it seemed like no time and we had the news of baby #3 coming! Our family has been expanding, and now that we have a full triathlon relay team in waiting.. yes 3 kids, I figure I better get back at it, so I can show 'em how its done! ;-)
Here's the thing though - a 2 year stoppage in training has taken me back a loooooong way physically. It stinks - I am a loooooong way from the level of fitness I had when I was last on here. I'm carrying around way too much weight, and I just did not make exercise a priority at all the past 6 months - oh yeah, besides the 3 kids, I have also been busy running a new (to me) business, on top of my career in policing. It was a big decision, but there is only so much you can do, and something had to go... for a while. So, it was exercise (this was a huge sacrifice, and not easy to do).
So, here I am. I still have 2 jobs (though the second is seasonal) and of course my 3 awesome kids, and thankfully my 1 awesome wife! I've just decided it's time to get back at it (and thankfully my awesome wife is with me!). I don't have it all worked out yet, but here is what I do know - when you want something - you make time for it, and I can't afford to not be active any longer.
Some may find this hard to believe, but, I have my doubts. When I looked below at my last post, I saw those pictures that I haven't looked at in years, though the memories are still fresh. I was so close to nailing my goal that day, and the feeling of deflation was huge. I don't know if I can get back to that. I don't know how long it will take. But I do know one thing: I gottastrive. (cheesy, but fitting right? :-)
So if you'd like, join on the journey... take a few minutes every now and then and read an update. I'll keep it real, and share about the struggles, dreams, and hopefully some triumphs (ok, and the odd family story of humour or pride that my kids seem to always be providing to me :-) As before, I always love hearing from you - I find there is great strength in support, so holla back, and we'll have some fun along the way!
Jon
